I'd like to put a tachometer on my '73 dunebuggy but am worried about compatability. Does anyone know what makes will work? I've got my eye on a couple autometer models but aren't sure they'll work.
I've never installed one before either. Anyhelp you guys can give me is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Any modern tachometer (last 20 years) will work. You attach the wire (called the trigger wire on most) to the post on the coil that goes to the voltage regulator. Ensure the tach is set to 4 cyl (some can work with 6 and 8 cyl motors) and thats it. Very simple to install and even the cheapest ones work quite well. There is no danger of damaging something by wiring it incorrectly. Worst case scenario-- you blow a fuse.
