For Sale 1973 Super Beetle with Sport Bug option package(not an original Sports Bug)
Green apple green with all flat black trim and bumpers. This colour is a twist from the original yellow and black or the metallic blue and black. Outfitted with Sports bug seats, sport bug steering wheel, and Sport bug style wheels (4 ½” wide version). Good tires, 195 radials on the back and 165 radials on the front.
Body painted inside and out, wheel wells, engine compartment, and under hood green apple green. Epoxy primer and several coats of sandable primer used. Outside colour coat professionally sprayed 1997, however, new paint is required now due to surface cracks in paint. Some sort of paint failure not rust problem.
Six year restoration by owner (1992-1998). All new metal welded in where needed. Wheels and many other parts acid dipped and repainted. All fenders bumpers and larger parts sand blasted and then painted. New fenders and bumpers with no patches used. Passenger door NOS is with no patches. Drivers door was very good to start with small new metal patch welded in bottom of door. New rockers and floor sections welded in. Floors and suspension scraped wire wheeled and finished/sealed with Tremclad black.
Seats reupholstered by owner with new material to match car colour. Custom floor mats made with deep pile black carpet by owner. New cal look black window rubber, new door rubbers, engine lid seal and hood seal. New headliner available, needs installation.
Low miles on rebuilt (1989) 1600 dual port motor. Runs great. Motor cleaned and painted during restoration. Brakes overhauled with new lines, master cylinder, and new master cylinder. DOT 5 brake fluid used. New exhaust 1998.
Purchased by this owner in 1989. Driven and then restored from 1993 – 1998. Krown rust control since 1998.
Obviously with all this work I don’t want to sell but do to a corporate downsizing one of the toys has to go. I’m looking for a good home for H3RBIE. Book of restoration pictures for local viewing or I can scan a few for interested buyer.
Current appraisal $7,500CDDN. Asking $6,000CDN.
